Week 5 - Planning, Installing and configuring Windows server

Activity:
Suppose that you need to set up a network for an office of 20 staff
Create a list of questions that you will need to ask management to help you decide on the appropriate hardware
Create a shopping list of the hardware items you think you will need to complete the task

Draw a plan of your classroom. Mark the current location of desks, workstations and peripheral devices. You should also mark the network and power connection points.
Now observe the traffic flow from the workstations to a printer. Mark this pattern on your diagram with arrows.
You have to install a laser printer. Select an appropriate position on your plan for the printer. Will you need to arrange for network or power connections?

Install Windows Server 2000
Configure the Server
Install IIS
Test IIS
